The WNK3 antibody is a research tool designed to detect and study WNK3 (With No Lysine [K] 3), a serine/threonine kinase belonging to the WNK family. WNK kinases are unique due to their atypical placement of a catalytic lysine residue, which distinguishes them from conventional kinases. WNK3 is broadly expressed in tissues, including the brain, kidney, and vascular endothelium, and plays a critical role in regulating ion transport and cellular homeostasis. It modulates the activity of ion cotransporters like NKCC1/2 and NCC, influencing electrolyte balance, blood pressure, and cell volume regulation.

Research on WNK3 has linked it to hypertension, neurological disorders, and kidney diseases. Dysregulation of WNK3 signaling may contribute to pathological conditions, such as familial hyperkalemic hypertension (FHHt) or cerebral edema. Antibodies against WNK3 enable scientists to investigate its expression patterns, post-translational modifications, and interactions with other proteins in both physiological and disease contexts. These antibodies are commonly used in techniques like Western blotting, immunohistochemistry, and immunofluorescence to map WNK3 localization and quantify its levels in experimental models.
