NEMF (Nuclear Export Mediator Factor) antibodies are tools used to study the NEMF protein, a critical component in cellular protein quality control and RNA metabolism. NEMF, also known as RNF185 or C1orf103. is an evolutionarily conserved protein implicated in the ribosome-associated quality control (RQC) pathway. This pathway detects and degrades stalled translation products, preventing toxic protein aggregation. NEMF facilitates the ubiquitination of incomplete polypeptides via its interaction with the E3 ligase LTN1. marking them for proteasomal degradation.

Mutations in NEMF have been linked to neurological disorders, including childhood-onset neurodegeneration and motor neuron diseases, highlighting its role in neuronal health. Additionally, NEMF participates in regulating mRNA stability and translation under stress conditions.

NEMF antibodies are essential for detecting protein expression, localization, and interaction partners in experimental models (e.g., Western blot, immunofluorescence). They enable research into disease mechanisms, such as how NEMF dysfunction contributes to protein aggregation in neurodegeneration. Recent studies also explore its potential role in cancer biology, where altered protein quality control pathways influence tumor progression.
