The CWC27 antibody is designed to detect the CWC27 protein, a component of the spliceosome machinery involved in pre-mRNA splicing. CWC27 (Complexed with CEF1 protein 27) is part of the CWC family, which interacts with the NineTeen Complex (NTC) to ensure accurate spliceosome assembly and catalytic activation during RNA processing. Structurally, CWC27 contains conserved domains that facilitate protein-protein interactions critical for splicing fidelity.

Mutations in the CWC27 gene are linked to retinal degeneration and ciliopathy-related disorders, such as retinitis pigmentosa and Bardet-Biedl syndrome, highlighting its role in cellular and tissue homeostasis. Dysregulation of CWC27 disrupts splicing events, leading to aberrant mRNA transcripts and impaired protein expression, which may contribute to disease pathogenesis.

The CWC27 antibody is widely used in research to study spliceosome dynamics, RNA metabolism, and disease mechanisms. It enables detection of endogenous CWC27 via techniques like Western blotting, immunofluorescence, and immunoprecipitation. Recent studies also utilize this antibody to explore CWC27's interaction networks and its potential as a biomarker or therapeutic target in splicing-related pathologies.
