The SYCP2 antibody targets the synaptonemal complex protein 2 (SYCP2), a key component of the synaptonemal complex (SC) essential for meiosis in eukaryotic cells. SYCP2. along with SYCP3. forms the lateral elements of the SC, a proteinaceous structure that mediates homologous chromosome pairing, recombination, and segregation during gametogenesis. SYCP2 is critical for SC assembly, stabilization, and the regulation of crossover formation. It interacts with other meiotic proteins, such as cohesins and recombination mediators, ensuring proper chromosomal synapsis and genomic integrity.

Research involving SYCP2 antibodies primarily focuses on studying meiotic processes, fertility disorders, and germ cell development.
