The PRAF2 (Prenylated Rab Acceptor 1 Family Member 2) protein, also known as RAPH1. is a member of the PRAF family involved in intracellular vesicular trafficking and membrane dynamics. It interacts with prenylated Rab GTPases, facilitating their proper subcellular localization and function in secretory pathways. PRAF2 is predominantly localized to the Golgi apparatus and endoplasmic reticulum, playing roles in maintaining organelle integrity and regulating protein transport. Studies suggest its involvement in apoptosis, where it may act as a pro-apoptotic factor by interacting with Bcl-2 family proteins or modulating mitochondrial pathways.

Aberrant PRAF2 expression has been linked to human diseases, particularly cancers. Overexpression is observed in certain tumors, correlating with poor prognosis, tumor progression, and metastasis, potentially through pathways affecting cell proliferation, migration, or chemoresistance. Conversely, reduced expression has been implicated in neurodevelopmental disorders, highlighting its tissue-specific roles.

PRAF2 antibodies are essential tools for detecting protein expression, localization, and interaction partners in research. They enable techniques like Western blotting, immunohistochemistry, and immunofluorescence, aiding in the exploration of PRAF2’s biological functions and pathological mechanisms.
