CENPE (Centromere Protein E) is a critical mitotic kinesin motor protein involved in chromosome alignment and spindle checkpoint regulation during cell division. It localizes specifically to the kinetochores of metaphase chromosomes, where it facilitates microtubule capture and chromosome movement along the spindle apparatus. CENPE's N-terminal kinesin motor domain generates mechanical force for chromosome positioning, while its C-terminal coiled-coil regions mediate dimerization and kinetochore targeting. Dysregulation of CENPE disrupts mitotic fidelity, leading to aneuploidy and genomic instability, which are hallmarks of cancer.

CENPE antibodies are essential tools for studying mitotic mechanisms, particularly in cancer research. They enable detection of CENPE expression levels, subcellular localization, and interaction partners via techniques like Western blotting, immunofluorescence, and immunoprecipitation. Overexpression of CENPE has been observed in various cancers, correlating with poor prognosis, making it a potential therapeutic target.
