The surfactant protein A2 (SFTPA2) antibody is a tool used to detect and study SFTPA2. a critical component of pulmonary surfactant produced primarily by alveolar type II cells. SFTPA2 belongs to the collectin family, characterized by collagen-like regions and carbohydrate-recognition domains, and plays a dual role in lung homeostasis and innate immunity. It facilitates pathogen opsonization, enhances phagocytosis by alveolar macrophages, and modulates inflammatory responses. Mutations in the SFTPA2 gene are linked to familial pulmonary fibrosis and increased susceptibility to lung cancers, making it a focus in respiratory disease research.

SFTPA2 antibodies, either monoclonal or polyclonal, are utilized in techniques like Western blotting, immunohistochemistry, and ELISA to investigate SFTPA2 expression, localization, and function.
