SESN3 (Sestrin 3) is a member of the Sestrin family of stress-inducible proteins, which includes SESN1 and SESN2. These evolutionarily conserved proteins play critical roles in cellular stress responses, antioxidant defense, and metabolic regulation, primarily through modulation of AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK) and mechanistic target of rapamycin complex 1 (mTORC1) signaling pathways. SESN3 is less studied compared to SESN1/SESN2 but shares functional similarities, including involvement in oxidative stress resistance, maintenance of metabolic homeostasis, and potential links to aging-related processes. It is expressed in various tissues, with notable roles in liver metabolism and neuronal function.

SESN3 antibodies are essential tools for detecting and quantifying SESN3 protein levels in research applications such as Western blotting, immunofluorescence, and immunohistochemistry. These antibodies help investigate SESN3's regulatory mechanisms in conditions like metabolic disorders, neurodegenerative diseases, and cancer. Studies suggest SESN3 may fine-tune mTORC1 activity in a context-dependent manner, influencing cell growth, autophagy, and energy balance. Its dysregulation has been implicated in insulin resistance, lipid accumulation, and oxidative damage.
