The 11β-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase type 1 (HSD11B1) antibody is a tool used to study the HSD11B1 enzyme, which plays a critical role in glucocorticoid metabolism. HSD11B1 primarily catalyzes the conversion of inactive cortisone to active cortisol, regulating local glucocorticoid levels in tissues like the liver, adipose tissue, and brain. Dysregulation of HSD11B1 is linked to metabolic disorders, including obesity, insulin resistance, and hypertension, making it a target for therapeutic research.

HSD11B1 antibodies are generated using immunogenic peptides or recombinant proteins from conserved regions of the enzyme. These antibodies enable the detection and quantification of HSD11B1 expression in various experimental models via techniques such as Western blotting, immunohistochemistry, and immunofluorescence.
