ELMO1 (Engulfment and Cell Motility Protein 1) is a cytoplasmic protein that plays a critical role in regulating cytoskeletal reorganization, cell migration, and phagocytosis. It functions as a key adaptor molecule in the Rac GTPase signaling pathway by interacting with Dock180 (Dedicator of Cytokinesis 1), forming the ELMO-Dock180 complex. This complex activates Rac1. promoting actin polymerization and membrane remodeling essential for processes like immune cell trafficking, neuronal development, and clearance of apoptotic cells. Dysregulation of ELMO1 is implicated in cancer metastasis, inflammatory diseases, and developmental disorders.

ELMO1 antibodies are essential tools for studying its expression, localization, and interactions in various biological contexts. Researchers use these antibodies in techniques such as Western blotting, immunofluorescence, and co-immunoprecipitation to explore ELMO1’s role in tumor microenvironment modulation, macrophage function, and epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) in cancer. In clinical research, ELMO1 is investigated as a potential biomarker for diseases like diabetic nephropathy and colorectal cancer. Its involvement in PI3K/Akt and Wnt signaling pathways further highlights its therapeutic relevance.
