The ELAC2 antibody is designed to target the ELAC2 protein, a critical enzyme encoded by the ELAC2 gene in humans. ELAC2. initially identified through its association with prostate cancer susceptibility, functions as a tRNA-processing endoribonuclease, essential for cleaving precursor tRNA molecules during mitochondrial RNA maturation. Structurally, it contains a conserved zinc-binding metallo-β-lactamase domain, which mediates its enzymatic activity. Mutations in ELAC2 have been linked to hereditary prostate cancer and severe infantile-onset mitochondrial disorders, underscoring its role in cellular energy metabolism and genomic stability.
