CALU (Calumenin) antibodies target a protein belonging to the CREC family, which is involved in calcium-binding and regulation within the endoplasmic reticulum (ER). Calumenin, encoded by the *CALU* gene, plays roles in modulating calcium-dependent processes, protein folding, and quality control in the ER. It interacts with other ER-resident chaperones, such as calreticulin and protein disulfide isomerase, influencing secretory pathway functions.

CALU antibodies are widely used in research to study its expression, localization, and functional roles in physiological and pathological contexts. Dysregulation of calumenin has been linked to cardiovascular diseases, cancer, and neurodegenerative disorders. For instance, altered calumenin levels are observed in atrial fibrillation, where calcium signaling is disrupted, and in certain cancers, where it may affect drug resistance or metastasis.

These antibodies enable detection via techniques like Western blotting, immunohistochemistry, and immunofluorescence, aiding investigations into ER stress, calcium homeostasis, and cellular responses to oxidative damage.
