The anaphase-promoting complex/cyclosome (APC/C) is a multi-subunit E3 ubiquitin ligase critical for regulating cell cycle progression by targeting specific proteins for proteasomal degradation. ANAPC13 (APC13) is a conserved core subunit of the APC/C, playing an essential structural and functional role in its assembly and activity. It interacts with other APC/C components, such as APC2 and APC16. to stabilize the complex and facilitate substrate recognition. ANAPC13 is particularly important during mitosis and meiosis, where the APC/C ensures timely degradation of mitotic regulators like securin and cyclin B, enabling proper chromosome segregation and exit from mitosis.

Mutations or dysregulation of APC/C subunits, including ANAPC13. have been linked to genomic instability, developmental disorders, and cancer. Studies suggest that ANAPC13 deficiency disrupts APC/C function, leading to cell cycle arrest, aneuploidy, or apoptosis. ANAPC13 antibodies are widely used in research to investigate APC/C assembly, substrate specificity, and its role in cell cycle control. These antibodies enable detection of endogenous ANAPC13 via techniques like Western blotting, immunoprecipitation, and immunofluorescence, aiding in studies of cell cycle dynamics, checkpoint mechanisms, and disease pathology. Recent work also explores ANAPC13's potential as a biomarker or therapeutic target in cancers with APC/C dysfunction.
