**Background of TFF1 Antibody**

TFF1 (Trefoil Factor Family 1), also known as pS2 or breast cancer estrogen-inducible protein, is a small secretory protein belonging to the trefoil factor family. It is characterized by a conserved trefoil domain containing three disulfide bonds, which stabilizes its structure in harsh environments like the gastrointestinal lumen. TFF1 is primarily expressed in mucosal epithelial cells of the stomach, colon, and mammary glands, where it plays a critical role in mucosal protection, repair, and restitution through anti-apoptotic, mitogenic, and migratory activities.

TFF1 has dual roles in cancer, acting as a tumor suppressor or promoter depending on context. Loss of TFF1 expression is linked to gastric carcinogenesis, while its overexpression in estrogen receptor-positive (ER+) breast cancer correlates with poor prognosis. TFF1 antibodies are essential tools for studying these mechanisms. They enable detection of TFF1 expression in tissues (via immunohistochemistry) or bodily fluids (via ELISA/Western blot), aiding in cancer diagnosis, prognosis, and research into therapeutic targeting.

Recent studies also explore TFF1's involvement in inflammation, metabolic disorders, and its potential as a biomarker.
