OAS2 (2'-5'-oligoadenylate synthetase 2) is a key enzyme in the innate immune response, part of the OAS family encoded by interferon-stimulated genes. It catalyzes the synthesis of 2'-5'-linked oligoadenylates upon detecting double-stranded RNA, a hallmark of viral infection. These molecules activate RNase L, which degrades viral and cellular RNA to inhibit viral replication. OAS2 antibodies are tools used to study the expression, localization, and functional roles of OAS2 in antiviral defense and disease contexts.

Research links OAS2 to autoimmune disorders (e.g., multiple sclerosis, type 1 diabetes) and cancers, where dysregulation may influence pathogenesis. In COVID-19.
