ENPP5. a member of the ectonucleotide pyrophosphatase/phosphodiesterase (ENPP) family, is a transmembrane glycoprotein involved in nucleotide metabolism and cellular signaling. It hydrolyzes extracellular nucleotides like ATP and NAD+ to regulate purinergic signaling pathways, which influence processes such as inflammation, apoptosis, and cell differentiation. ENPP5 is notably expressed in reproductive tissues, particularly the testis, where it may play roles in sperm maturation and fertilization. Its unique substrate specificity and tissue distribution distinguish it from other ENPP family members (e.g., ENPP1-3).

ENPP5 antibodies are critical tools for studying its expression, localization, and function. These antibodies are typically developed in hosts like rabbits or mice using immunogenic peptide sequences or recombinant protein fragments. They enable applications such as Western blotting, immunohistochemistry (IHC), and immunofluorescence (IF) to detect ENPP5 in tissue sections or cell lysates. Research using ENPP5 antibodies has explored its potential roles in male infertility, cancer (e.g., modulating tumor microenvironments via nucleotide signaling), and metabolic disorders. However, commercial availability remains limited, and validation for specificity (e.g., knockout controls) is essential due to homology within the ENPP family. Ongoing studies aim to clarify ENPP5's mechanistic contributions to disease and its utility as a therapeutic target.
