The BMP2 (Bone Morphogenetic Protein 2) antibody is a tool used to detect and study BMP2. a key signaling protein in the TGF-β (Transforming Growth Factor-beta) superfamily. BMP2 plays critical roles in embryonic development, bone and cartilage formation, and tissue repair by regulating cell differentiation, proliferation, and apoptosis. Dysregulation of BMP2 is linked to skeletal disorders, cardiovascular diseases, and cancer, making it a focus of therapeutic research.

BMP2 antibodies, typically monoclonal or polyclonal, are generated using recombinant BMP2 protein or specific peptide sequences. They enable the detection of BMP2 in techniques like ELISA, Western blot, and immunohistochemistry (IHC), aiding in quantifying protein expression and localization in tissues or cell lines. Researchers use these antibodies to explore BMP2’s involvement in osteogenesis, stem cell differentiation, and pathological processes like tumor metastasis or fibrosis.

In therapeutic contexts, BMP2-neutralizing antibodies are investigated for conditions where excessive BMP2 signaling drives disease, such as certain cancers or heterotopic ossification. Conversely, recombinant BMP2 is used clinically to enhance bone regeneration, and antibodies help monitor its bioavailability. Challenges include ensuring antibody specificity due to structural similarities among BMP family members. Ongoing studies aim to refine antibody design for diagnostic accuracy and therapeutic efficacy.
