**Background of KLK3 Antibodies**

KLK3. also known as prostate-specific antigen (PSA), is a serine protease encoded by the *KLK3* gene, primarily produced in the prostate gland. It plays a role in liquefying seminal fluid and is widely used as a biomarker for prostate cancer screening, diagnosis, and monitoring. KLK3 antibodies are immunological tools designed to detect and quantify PSA levels in biological samples, such as blood or tissue.

These antibodies are critical components in diagnostic assays like ELISA, immunohistochemistry, and lateral flow tests. Monoclonal or polyclonal KLK3 antibodies target specific epitopes on the PSA protein, enabling differentiation between free PSA, complexed PSA (bound to serum proteins), and isoforms like proPSA. Clinically, elevated PSA levels detected by these antibodies may indicate prostate cancer, benign prostatic hyperplasia, or inflammation, though specificity limitations necessitate complementary diagnostic methods.

Research-grade KLK3 antibodies are also used to study prostate cancer biology, including tumor progression, metastasis, and response to therapies like androgen deprivation. Challenges include cross-reactivity with homologous kallikreins (e.g., KLK2) and variability in antibody performance across assay platforms.
