The TUBA8 antibody is a specialized tool used to detect TUBA8 (tubulin alpha-8), a member of the α-tubulin protein family. α-tubulins are critical components of microtubules, dynamic cytoskeletal structures involved in cell division, intracellular transport, and maintenance of cell shape. TUBA8. encoded by the *TUBA8* gene on chromosome 22q13.1. is distinguished by its unique expression patterns and sequence variations compared to other α-tubulin isoforms. It is predominantly expressed in testis and brain tissues, suggesting roles in neurodevelopment and spermatogenesis.

Research using TUBA8 antibodies has highlighted its association with cellular processes and disease. Studies indicate TUBA8 mutations may disrupt microtubule stability, contributing to neurodevelopmental disorders, such as polymicrogyria, a brain malformation. Additionally, TUBA8 dysregulation has been observed in certain cancers, implicating its potential role in tumorigenesis or chemoresistance.

TUBA8 antibodies are widely employed in techniques like Western blotting, immunofluorescence, and immunohistochemistry to study protein localization, expression levels, and interactions. These applications help unravel TUBA8's functional significance in normal physiology and disease mechanisms. However, challenges remain, including cross-reactivity with other tubulin isoforms, necessitating rigorous validation.
