The SUZ12 antibody is a crucial tool for studying the polycomb repressive complex 2 (PRC2), a key epigenetic regulator in eukaryotic cells. SUZ12 (Suppressor of Zeste 12 homolog) is a core subunit of PRC2. along with EZH2. EED, and RBBP4. This complex catalyzes the trimethylation of histone H3 on lysine 27 (H3K27me3), a repressive chromatin mark essential for gene silencing during development, differentiation, and cell fate determination. Antibodies targeting SUZ12 are widely used to investigate PRC2's role in these processes, as well as its dysregulation in cancers and other diseases.

SUZ12 antibodies enable researchers to detect and quantify PRC2 complex formation, map its genomic localization via ChIP-seq, and assess its functional interactions. They are critical for validating PRC2 integrity in studies involving knockout models or EZH2 inhibitors. Commercially available SUZ12 antibodies are typically developed using immunogens derived from conserved regions of the human SUZ12 protein and validated for specificity in applications like Western blotting, immunofluorescence, and immunoprecipitation. Some clones (e.g., D39F8) specifically recognize SUZ12 without cross-reacting to paralogs. Researchers often verify antibody performance using SUZ12-deficient cell lines or CRISPR-mediated knockout controls. Given SUZ12's emerging role in cancer progression (e.g., sustaining tumor suppressor gene silencing), these antibodies also have diagnostic and therapeutic relevance in oncology research.
