The ARFGEF2 antibody is a research tool designed to detect ADP-ribosylation factor guanine nucleotide-exchange factor 2 (ARFGEF2), a protein critical for intracellular vesicular trafficking and protein transport. ARFGEF2. also known as BIG2. functions as a guanine nucleotide exchange factor (GEF) that activates ADP-ribosylation factors (ARFs) by facilitating the replacement of GDP with GTP. This activation is essential for recruiting coat proteins during vesicle formation, particularly in the Golgi apparatus and endosomal compartments. ARFGEF2 is implicated in maintaining Golgi structure, regulating neurotransmitter release, and mediating cell signaling pathways.

Researchers use ARFGEF2 antibodies in techniques like Western blotting, immunohistochemistry, and immunofluorescence to study its expression, localization, and interactions in various tissues and cell types. Dysregulation of ARFGEF2 is linked to neurological disorders, including periventricular heterotopia (PVNH), a developmental brain malformation caused by mutations in the ARFGEF2 gene.
