The NDRG4 (N-Myc downstream-regulated gene 4) antibody is a tool used to detect and study the NDRG4 protein, a member of the NDRG family involved in cellular processes like differentiation, stress response, and tumor suppression. NDRG4. also termed BDM1 or SMAP-8. is highly expressed in the brain, heart, and gastrointestinal tissues, with roles in neuronal development, myelination, and cardiovascular function. Its dysregulation has been linked to cancers (e.g., colorectal, pancreatic), neurodegenerative disorders (e.g., Alzheimer’s), and heart diseases. Structurally, it contains an α/β hydrolase-fold domain, though its enzymatic function remains unclear.

NDRG4 antibodies are critical for research applications such as Western blotting, immunohistochemistry, and immunofluorescence, enabling the visualization of protein expression patterns and localization. These antibodies aid in exploring NDRG4's dual role as a tumor suppressor (via cell cycle arrest and apoptosis induction) or promoter (context-dependent). They also help investigate its interaction with signaling pathways like Wnt/β-catenin and PTEN/AKT.
