描述	3-Hydroxyisobutyric acid is an intermediate metabolite in the pathways of L-valine and thymine metabolism and can be detected in urine. 3-Hydroxyisobutyric acid functions as a secreted mediator of endothelial cell fatty acid transport and insulin resistance. 3-Hydroxyisobutyric acid additionally inhibits key enzymes involved in energy metabolism within the cerebral cortex of young rats. The levels of 3-Hydroxyisobutyric acid are closely associated with multiple pathological conditions, including 3-hydroxyisobutyric aciduria, diabetes, and ketoacidosis. 3-Hydroxyisobutyric acid is therefore valuable for metabolic disease, endocrinology, and mitochondrial energy metabolism investigations.
