白细胞介素-18 (IL-18)是一种属于IL-1超家族的细胞因子，由巨噬细胞和其他细胞产生。IL-18通过与IL-18受体结合发挥作用，在脂多糖(LPS)等微生物产物感染后，与IL-12一起诱导细胞介导的免疫。经IL-18刺激后，自然杀伤(NK)细胞和某些T细胞释放另一种重要的细胞因子干扰素-γ (IFN-γ)或ⅱ型干扰素，在激活巨噬细胞或其他细胞中起重要作用。该细胞因子与IL12的结合已被证明可以抑制IL-4依赖性IgE和IgG1的产生，并增强B细胞中IgG2a的产生。IL-18结合蛋白(IL18BP)可与该细胞因子发生特异性相互作用，从而负向调控其生物学活性。

生物活性：1、Measured by its ability to induce IFN-gamma secretion by KG‑1 human acute myelogenous leukemia cells in the presence of TNF-alpha. The ED50 for this effect is typically 5 - 30 ng/mL. 2、Recombinant Human IL-18 Protein (rp147444) stimulates cell proliferation of the CTLL-2 mouse cytotoxic T cell line. The ED50 for this effect is typically 0.27 ng/mL.
