Peptide T is a straight chain peptide composed of 8 nucleotides. Its function is to prevent virus entry, as Peptide T inhibits MAGI cell assays and uses ADA envelope pseudotyped HIV virus particles to prevent infection in luciferase reporter gene assays. Compared to CXC4, Peptide T selectively inhibits HIV replication using the chemokine receptor CCR5. Peptide T at 10-8 M induces IL-10 production in human Th2 cell lines and PBMCs. In addition, Peptide T at a concentration of 10-9 M significantly inhibited the production of IFN-g by PBMC.
