Alarin (Human) is a splicing variant peptide derived from galanin like peptide (GALP) RNA, with a sequence containing 25 amino acids. Alarin (Human) exhibits strong and dose-dependent vasoconstrictor and anti edema activity in the skin microvascular system, which has also been observed in other members of the galanin family. Due to the fact that Alarin only shares five amino acids with GALP, it is unlikely that this peptide will activate GALP specific receptors. According to reports, neuropeptides are expressed in ganglion cells of human neuroblastoma, thus potentially representing a potential tumor marker.
