Compstatins is a specific inhibitor peptide with strong stability. After acetylation of the N-terminus of the sequence, it can effectively prevent the peptide from being degraded by enzymes in the organism. The main physiological function of Compstatin is to completely inhibit complement activation induced by heparin/protamine, without any side effects on heart rate or systemic vascular, central venous, and pulmonary arterial pressure. Compstatin is a safe and effective complement inhibitor with the potential to inhibit complement activation in clinical cardiac surgery.
