First Aid Measures

Ingestion
If victim is conscious and alert, give 2-4 cupfuls of milk or water. Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious person. Get medical aid. Get medical aid immediately. Do NOT induce vomiting. If conscious and alert, rinse mouth and drink 2-4 cupfuls of milk or water.
Inhalation
Get medical aid immediately. Remove from exposure to fresh air immediately. If not breathing, give artificial respiration. If breathing is difficult, give oxygen. Get medical aid.
Skin
Get medical aid. Flush skin with plenty of soap and water for at least 15 minutes while removing contaminated clothing and shoes. Wash clothing before reuse. Remove contaminated clothing and shoes.
Eyes
Flush eyes with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes, occasionally lifting the upper and lower eyelids. Immediately flush eyes with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes, occasionally lifting the upper and lower eyelids. Get medical aid. Get medical aid immediately.

Handling and Storage

Storage
Store in a tightly closed container. Store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated area away from incompatible substances. Do not store in metal containers. Store protected from moisture. Store protected from light.
Handling
Wash thoroughly after handling. Remove contaminated clothing and wash before reuse. Avoid contact with eyes, skin, and clothing. Keep container tightly closed. Avoid ingestion and inhalation. Use with adequate ventilation. Store protected from light. Do not allow contact with water. Keep from contact with moist air and steam.

Hazards Identification

Inhalation
Causes respiratory tract irritation. May cause effects similar to those described for ingestion. Can produce delayed pulmonary edema.
Skin
Causes skin irritation. May be absorbed through the skin.
Eyes
Causes eye irritation. May cause chemical conjunctivitis.
Ingestion
May be fatal if swallowed. May cause gastrointestinal irritation with nausea, vomiting and diarrhea. May cause liver damage. May cause central nervous system effects and/or neurological effects.

Exposure Controls/Personal Protection

Personal Protection
Eyes: Wear appropriate protective eyeglasses or chemical safety goggles as described by OSHA's eye and face protection regulations in 29 CFR 1910.133 or European Standard EN166. Skin: Wear appropriate protective gloves to prevent skin exposure. Clothing: Wear appropriate protective clothing to prevent skin exposure.
Respirators
A respiratory protection program that meets OSHA's 29 CFR 1910.134 and ANSI Z88.2 requirements or European Standard EN 149 must be followed whenever workplace conditions warrant a respirator's use.
Exposure Effects
Effects may be delayed. Chronic exposure may cause liver damage. Reproductive effects have been reported in animals.
Exposure limit(s)
NIOSH TWA: 2 mg/m3 as Sn.
Poison Class

Fire Fighting
Wear a self-contained breathing apparatus in pressure-demand, MSHA/NIOSH (approved or equivalent), and full protective gear. May polymerize explosively when involved in a fire. Contact with metals may evolve flammable hydrogen gas. Containers may explode when heated. Combustible material; may burn but does not ignite readily. Extinguishing media: Do NOT get water inside containers. For small fires, use dry chemical, carbon dioxide, or water spray. For large fires, use dry chemical, carbon dioxide, alcohol-resistant foam, or water spray. Cool containers with flooding quantities of water until well after fire is out.
Lower exp. limit

Fire Potential
This chemical is combustible.

Accidental Release Measures

Small spills/leaks
Avoid runoff into storm sewers and ditches which lead to waterways. Clean up spills immediately, using the appropriate protective equipment. Remove all sources of ignition. Absorb spill using an absorbent, non-combustible material such as earth, sand, or vermiculite. Provide ventilation. Do not get water inside containers.

Stability and Reactivity

Disposal Code
9
Incompatibilities
Moisture, strong acids, strong bases, strong oxidizing agents.
Stability
Stable at room temperature in closed containers under normal storage and handling conditions.
Decomposition
Carbon monoxide, irritating and toxic fumes and gases, carbon dioxide, tin/tin oxides.
Combustion Products
Toxic gases and vapors may be released in a fire involving organic tin compounds.
