Bacitracin zinc is a complex formed by bacitracin and zinc ions. It belongs to polypeptide antibiotics and is the most widely used antibiotic feed additive at present. The zinc content is generally 2%~12%. The synthetic product is white or yellowish powder, with a special odor, which is easily deliquescent into weak alkaline substances and soluble in water, methanol and ethanol. Bacitracin zinc has strong antibacterial effect on gram-positive bacteria and also has antibacterial effect on some gram-negative bacteria. Using bacitracin zinc in the full price feed of pigs can promote the growth rate, improve the feed reward, and prevent bacterial diarrhea and chronic respiratory diseases of pigs. The additive concentration is generally effective at 10~100mg/kg, and the effect is not significantly improved beyond the additive range. Bacitracin zinc is not generally absorbed in pig intestine, so it has no residue problem and is a safe and reliable antibiotic drug additive. Bacitracin zinc is highly toxic and not easily absorbed by the intestine, so it cannot be used as a treatment for systemic infection.
