Lutein is a kind of carotene, which belongs to photosynthetic pigment. It naturally exists widely in vegetables (such as spinach, cabbage, broccoli, etc.), flowers, fruits and other plants. It can transfer the absorbed light energy to chlorophyll a in a special state for conversion of light energy, and has the function of protecting chlorophyll.
Lutein is the most important nutrient in human retina. Lutein in the macula (vision center) and crystalline body of the retina of the eye contains a high concentration, but the human body cannot synthesize it by itself. It must come from food absorption, and then break through all difficulties, enter the lens and macula of the retina, play an antioxidant effect, neutralize harmful free radicals, filter out destructive blue light to the eyes, and avoid oxidative damage to the eyes caused by light.
