Tivothixene, an antipsychotropic drug with thioxanthracene structure, has been widely used in patients with chronic schizophrenia in foreign countries and has been successfully trial-produced by Shanghai No. 1 Pharmaceutical Factory in China, but has not been used in clinic. Kinetic studies of the capsule in rabbits have been reported.

It has strong antipsychotic effect. For the symptoms of apathy, loneliness and decreased initiative in acute and chronic mental illness; Also used in anxiety disorders. Tivothixene has no strong anti-hallucination and delusion effect and no sedative and hypnotic effect. It has an uplifting effect on behavior withdrawal, reduced initiative and apathy in chronic schizophrenia. It is also effective in the agitation or depressive state of affective psychosis, hallucinations and delusions of acute schizophrenia, and the effect is better than cloprothixene. In addition, Tivothixene has antiemetic and mild antihypertensive and antispasmodic effects.

Pharmacological action

Tivothixene is a thixene drug with a piperazine side chain. The effect is similar to chlorpromazine. The sedative effect is weak, but the antipsychotic effect is stronger than chlorpromazine, and has anti-anxiety and anti-depression effects. The curative effect of Tivothixene is superior to cloprothixene.
