Suramin sodium is in the shape of a white crystal powder.

Suramin sodium has been proved to have anti-trypanosomiasis, anti-tumor, anti-ocular proliferative disease, antiviral, immunomodulatory effects, and has been widely used in clinical practice. At present, there have been no reports on the anti-coccidia effect of suramin sodium, and it is impossible to infer whether suramin sodium has anti-coccidia effect based on its known properties. Suramin sodium salt is a hepatitis C virus NS3 helicase inhibitor. It is also used to treat arthritis caused by collagen problems.
