Application
The main mechanism of its ability to reduce blood sugar and weight is that it can promote insulin secretion by activating GLP-1 (glucagon like peptide-1) receptor, inhibit glucagon secretion in a glucose-concentration-dependent manner, delay gastric emptying and increase satiety, and inhibit appetite by inhibiting the function of hypothalamic feeding center. This improves blood sugar control in patients with type 2 diabetes, while reducing body weight. Semaglutide, originally used abroad in combination with diet and exercise to improve blood sugar control in patients with type 2 diabetes, was approved by the U.S. FD on September 20, 2019
