Quercetin 3,3'-dimethyl ether is a methoxy-substituted quercetin that acts as an antimicrobial agent. Quercetin 3,3'-dimethyl ether inhibits cell growth by inducing apoptosis in MCF-7 cells and has been shown to inhibit tumor growth in galleria mellonella. The chemical structure of this compound consists of a catechol ring with three methyl groups at the 3,3', and 3' positions. Quercetin 3,3'-dimethyl ether has also been shown to have anti-inflammatory properties. This compound may be used to treat cancer due to its ability to induce programmed cell death in tumor cells.
