Product characteristics: The Product was colorless crystal or white crystalline powder with the relative density of 2.34 .The melting point was 150-190 ºC (decomposition). The product had a flavor of sulfur dioxide and soluble in water with acidic aqueous solution, it was not soluble in ethanol. Sulfur dioxide was released from acidic solution and oxidized to sulfate in the air.

Application
1. Use as a food bleach, preservative and antioxidant. Long-term consumption of excessive sulfur dioxide food, will cause serious damage to the body, and may even cause cancer.
2. Used as analytical reagent. It is also used as a developing agent, reducing agent and bacterial inhibitor.
3. Potassium metabisulfite is used as an additive in thiosulfate silver plating, and its sodium salt is also used in the treatment of chromium-containing wastewater.
