The relative density is 0.815 ~ 0.830, the viscosity is 0.01 ~ 0.02Pa·s(100℃), the flash point is greater than 190℃(open), and the drop point is about 37 ~ 54℃. Soluble in ethyl ether, petroleum ether, various fatty oils, benzene, carbon disulfide, chloroform and turpentine, insoluble in ethanol, almost insoluble in water. It is heated into a transparent liquid and fluoresces in the dark after ultraviolet irradiation.
Usage: Because petroleum jelly has colorless odorless, chemical inert, semi-solid, lipophilic, good adhesion characteristics, suitable for the manufacture of hair care cream, hair conditioner, eyeshadow, lipstick, hair wax and other matrix. Pharmaceutical Vaseline, which can be combined with almost all drugs without changing the drugs, can be widely used as the base of ointment. Hydrophilic petroleum jelly can be prepared by adding alcohol such as octadecanol, cetanol, cholesterol, etc. to the petroleum jelly, melting it at temperature and stirring it fully. Hydrophilic petroleum jelly is a highly permeable and stable ointment base with little irritation. This ointment base can be used alone for dry rash, erythema, papules and other diseases, especially for the removal of blood scab and desquamation. Vaseline can also be used as an emulsifier and cholesterol, with non-ionic properties, so the range of compatible compounds is very wide. In addition, because of its absorbability, it can be compatible with liquid drugs or aqueous solutions of drugs.
