Introduction:
Lead acetate trihydrate is colorless crystal, white particle or powder, delixing. Soluble in water, sweet. Lead acetate trihydrate is used to manufacture various lead salts, pigments, dyes, lead plating, polyester catalysts, waterproof paints, desiccant, insecticides and medicine.
Chemical properties:
white crystalline or flaky powder, industrial products are often brown or gray in large pieces. Soluble in water, slightly soluble in alcohol, easily soluble in glycerol.
Uses:
The product can be used to produce all kinds of lead salt, anti-fouling paint, water quality protection agent, pigment filler, paint desiccant, fiber dyeing agent, heavy metal cyanide process solvent. It is widely used in medicine, pesticides, dyes, coatings and other industrial production. It is also a reagent for determination of chromium trioxide and molybdenum trioxide in chemical analysis.
Production method:
Lead oxide and acetic acid reaction. The lead oxide was dissolved in 80% hot acetic acid until it was soaked, filtered, and a small amount of acetic acid was added to the filtrate to evaporate to a relative density of 1.40. Cool, filter, and dry, and lead acetate is obtained. The purity of industrial lead acetate is generally more than 98%. After purification, it can be recrystallized with 1% acetic acid solution, or dissolve lead acetate trihydrate in water into hydrogen sulfide, so that lead sulfide and other impurities precipitate together, after filtration, add fluorescent gallium reagent (Co, Al, Cu and other complexing agents) in the filtrate, add a small amount of activated carbon, and then add EDTA sodium salt treatment, can obtain very pure reagent grade products.
