Lactoferrin

Lactoferrin (LF) is a 75 to 80 kDa non heme iron binding glycoprotein, which was produced when placental animals and marsupials differentiated about 125 million years ago. Because of its high homology with transferrin, LF belongs to the transferrin family and is the youngest member of the transferrin family.
