Glycerol acetal (GF) is a light glycerol acetal consisting of about 60% 5-hydroxy-1, 3-dioxane and about 40% 4-hydroxymethyl-1,3 chemicalbook-dioxane. In the presence of an acidic catalyst, glycerol reacts with formaldehyde to produce acetone. The potential of GF as an injection solvent for toxicity tests has been reported.
