Ethambutol hydrochloride interferes with the DNA and RNA synthesis of Mycobacterium tuberculosis, has a strong inhibitory effect on Mycobacterium tuberculosis during the growth and reproduction period, and has no cross-resistance with other anti-tuberculosis products. Long-term use can slowly develop resistance. Clinically used in patients with resistance to streptomycin or isoniazid. Combined with rifampicin or isoniazid, it can enhance the efficacy and delay the generation of product resistance, and use for various types of active tuberculosis.
Appplication
It has a strong inhibitory effect on Mycobacterium tuberculosis and other mycobacteria. Oral absorption is about 80%, the peak blood concentration is 2 to 4 hours, protein binding is about 40%, and only about 10% of the drug is metabolized into inactive substances in the body. It is mainly excreted through the kidneys. There is no cross-resistance with other anti-tuberculosis drugs. But Mycobacterium tuberculosis can slowly develop resistance to this product. It is a second-line anti-tuberculosis drug and can be used in cases where other anti-tuberculosis drugs are not effective. It is often combined with other anti-tuberculosis drugs. To enhance the efficacy and delay the emergence of bacterial resistance. Invalid usage and dosage for intracellular tuberculosis.
