EDTA salt anticoagulation is not irreversible anticoagulation, so the test should be completed within 24h after EDTA anticoagulation test tube blood collection, otherwise it may cause errors in the test results. The storage time of EDTA salt anticoagulant blood samples is: the white blood cell count can be stored for 48 hours at 4°C, and no more than 24 hours at 23°C. The platelet count can be stored for 24 hours at 4℃.
Anticoagulation requires a sufficient amount of EDTA, but excessive EDTA may cause changes in blood cell morphology, and it is particularly important to accurately control the amount of EDTA dipotassium added.
EDTA salt can inhibit platelet aggregation, but it cannot completely prevent platelet aggregation. In a small number of patients, blood platelets are lower than normal in routine blood tests, which may be caused by platelet pseudo-aggregation. In this case, sodium citrate anticoagulant can be used for platelet test verification. This situation has nothing to do with the quality of EDTA anticoagulant, but with the patient's blood characteristics and clinical testing operations.
EDTA dipotassium can be used in combination with sodium fluoride and separating gel. When EDTA dipotassium/sodium fluoride is combined, add 1.2-2.0mg of dipotassium per ml of blood and add 2-4mg of sodium fluoride. When EDTA dipotassium/separation gel is combined, the dosage of dipotassium does not change, and the amount of separation gel added to each test tube is 0.8-1.2g. When used with separation gel, anticoagulation effect, tube wall siliconization, centrifugal conditions, and separation gel quality will affect the blood separation effect.
