Kyanite is a natural refractory raw material mineral with high refractoriness and large volume expansion at high temperature. There are parallel stripes on the crystal plane. The color is light blue or cyan, bright gray and white. Belongs to high alumina minerals. It has strong chemical resistance, high thermal shock mechanical strength, and irreversible thermal expansion. It is the main raw material for the production of unshaped materials, electric furnace roof bricks, phosphate non-burning bricks, mullite bricks, and low creep bricks.
Characteristics
1.Thermal expansionKyanite mineral is converted into a mixture of mullite and kyanite during heating. In this conversion process, the minerals are accompanied by volume expansion, and a good acicular network of inlite is formed, with a volume expansion rate of 16-18%.
2.stabilityThe stability of refractories produced by kyanite minerals is 1.5 times higher than that of clay refractories. Kyanite refractory bricks have a 43% lower loss than clay bricks and have a life span of 150-200 furnaces longer than clay bricks.
3. High refractorinessGenerally, the refractoriness of clay refractory is 1670-1770ºC, while the refractory of kyanite is usually higher than 1790ºC, and the highest is higher than 1850ºC.4. IrreversibilityThe calcining of kyanite mineral into mullite is an irreversible transformation.
