The Cellulase with it's cas number 9012-54-8, belongs to a class of enzymes mainly produced by fungi, bacteria, and protozoans, which catalyze the cellulolysis (or hydrolysis) of cellulose. However, other types of organisms such as plants and animals, can also produced cellulases. Cellulase is used for commercial a food processing in coffee. It performs hydrolysis of cellulose during drying of beans. Furthermore, cellulases are mainly used in textile industry and in laundry detergents. Besides, they have also been used in the pulp and paper industry for various purposes, and they are even used for pharmaceutical applications. Cellulase is used in the fermentation of biomass into biofuels, though this process is quite experimental at present. And, Cellulase is used as a treatment for Phytobezoars, which is a form of cellulose bezoar found in the human stomach.
The Cellulase may cause sensitization by inhalation. Hence, do not breathe dust, keep out of the reach of children. It quite harmful to your skin, so avoid contact with skin, you should better wear suitable protective clothing and gloves when you are using it.
