Name | Cardamonin |
Description | Cardamonin (Cardamomin) is a chalcone isolated from Alpiniae katsumadai. It has anticancer, anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, antioxidant and anti-diabetic activities. It can inhibit mTOR, NF-κB, Akt, STAT3, Wnt/β-catenin and COX-2, inhibit the growth of breast cancer, and can be used to study acute kidney injury and chronic renal fibrosis. |
In vitro | The cell viabilities of H9C2 and HL-1 treated with different concentrations of Cardamonin (0, 1.5, 3.125, 6.25, 12.5, 25, 50 and 100 μM) for 24 h were not remarkably changed, suggesting that Cardamonin under the tested doses showed no significant cytotoxicity to cells. [1] |
In vivo | The male C57BL/6 J mice (8 weeks old, 20–22 g). The Cardamonin treatment group (DOX + Cardamonin) was pretreated with Cardamonin (20, 40 or 80 mg/kg/day) by gavage, and mice were then intraperitoneal injected with DOX. Cardamonin does-dependently increased the body weight of mice challenged with DOX. We also found that the ratio of heart weight to body weight was markedly increased by DOX, which was, however, decreased by Cardamonin treatment in a dose-dependent manner. [1] |
