Calcium fluoride
1.Character:
It is quiaxed crystal system, cube, octahedron or dodecahedron. Colorless crystal or white powder. Extremely insoluble in water. Soluble in hydrochloric acid, hydrofluoric acid, sulfuric acid, nitric acid and ammonium salt solution, insoluble in acetone. It dissolves in aluminum salt and iron salt solution to form complex, and reacts with hot concentrated sulfuric acid to produce hydrofluoric acid. Hydrogen fluoride can be prepared by reacting calcium fluoride with concentrated sulfuric acid in a lead container. Can form eutectic with various metal oxides.
2.Uses:
As a flux, it is widely used in iron and steel smelting and ferroalloy production, ferritization process and non-ferrous metal smelting. Another important use of fluorite is the production of hydrofluoric acid; In the glass industry, fluorite is added as a flux and sunscreen, and in cement production, fluorite is added as a mineralizer. Fluorite can reduce the sintering temperature of charge, reduce fuel consumption, and enhance the liquid viscosity of clinker during sintering.
