| Name | Apramycin sulfate |
| Description | Apramycin sulfate (Nebramycin II) is an aminoglycoside antibiotic. |
| In vitro | Compared to untreated chicks, 225 mg/L Apramycin completely inhibited mortality and significantly reduced the excretion of Salmonella. |
| In vivo | At 1/4 MIC, apramycin reduces the growth rate of the test strains in the culture medium and induces a post-antibiotic effect lasting up to 5 hours. It inhibits A. pleuropneumoniae FMV 87-682 with an MIC50 of 8 mg/l. Apramycin significantly decreases the hemolytic activity of A. pleuropneumoniae and affects capsule production in this isolate and in a P. multocida isolate (type A). Misreading induced by apramycin, involving the incorporation of leucine, isoleucine, and serine, was detected, albeit limited to a narrow scope, in an E. coli cell-free system programmed with poly(U). |
