Alkylation of 3,8-Dibromo-1,10-phenanthroline CAS:100125-12-0 and New π-Conjugated Polymers, Poly(2-alkyl-1,10-phenanthroline-3,8-diyl)s, Derived from the Alkylated Monomers.
Reactions of alkyl and phenyl Grignard reagents with 3,8-dibromo-1,10-phenanthroline CAS:100125-12-0 led to alkylation and phenylation at the 2-position of 1,10-phenanthroline. The prepared 2-alkyl-1,10-phenanthroline forms a 1:1 complex with Cu(II) and serves as a starting material for poly(2-alkyl-1,10-phenanthroline-3,8-diyl).
A new application of the Suzuki-Miyaura reaction whereas two bifunctional reactants, 3,8-dibromo-1,10-phenanthroline CAS:100125-12-0
and 3,5-diethynylheptyloxylbenzene(9),
yield 3,8-bis(3-ethynyl-5-heptyloxyphenylethynyl)-1,
10-phenanthroline (2) efficiently (74% yield) without polymerization.
Bromation of 1,10-phenanthroline with Br2 proceeds smoothly in the presence of S2Cl2 and pyridine to give 3,8-dibromo-1,10-phenanthroline CAS:100125-12-0 in good yield.
