Description |
Propyltrimethoxysilane, also called Trimethoxypropylsilane, is an alkylalkoxysilane. It is a colorless, low viscosity liquid. It has an n-propyl organic group and a trimethoxysilyl inorganic group. It provides a hydrophobic surface treatment.
Its general applications include:
- An important material in sol-gel production;
- Provides a hydrophobic surface treatment for inorganic powders or filler materials;
- One of the catalyst components for polyolefin production with Ziegler-Natta catalysts;
- Reacts faster with water than SiSiB® PC5932. Customer may regulate the rate of hydrolysis according to actual application.

Abstract |
Propyltrimethoxysilane(Trimethoxy(propyl)silane) is an important raw material for processing sol gels. It adds moderate organic properties to the silicone mesh, just like the propyl group in the product. In addition, it contains propyl groups, which increase the organic properties of the product. |
Applications |
Trimethoxypropylsilane is used as a neutral curing agent in silicone sealant formulations. Generally, this silane is used for crosslinking α,ω-silanol polydimethylsiloxanes in the presence of atmospheric moisture. It is often the main crosslinker of choice for oxime silicone sealants and can be used by itself or in combination with other oxime silanes to provide the sealant with targeted properties (such as desired cure rate, adhesion etc). |
Uses |
Trimethoxypropylsilane is an alkylalkoxysilane. It is a colorless, low viscosity liquid. It has an n-propyl organic group and a trimethoxysilyl inorganic group. It provides a hydrophobic surface treatment. It is an important material in sol-gel production that can provide a hydrophobic surface treatment for inorganic powders or filler materials. Moreover, Propyltrimethoxysilane is one of the catalyst components for polyolefin production with Ziegler-Natta catalysts. |
