5-Hydroxyflavone

5-Hydroxyflavone is a flavonoid that has been shown to have potent antioxidant effects in vivo. It has been found to protect mitochondria from oxidative damage by inhibiting the production of reactive oxygen species and increasing the mitochondrial membrane potential. The chemical stability of 5-hydroxyflavone has also been demonstrated in vitro. This molecule is able to form stable complexes with other molecules, such as human serum albumin, which may be due to its hydrophobic character. This complex formation can lead to increased bioavailability of the drug and improved pharmacokinetic properties. 5-Hydroxyflavone also exhibits anti-inflammatory activities in vitro. It inhibits the production of inflammatory cytokines (IL1β, IL6) and chemokines (MCP1) by activating PPARγ receptors on macrophages and monocytes.
