β-bromophenyl ethane is an important intermediate in the synthesis of high performance bromo-based flame retardant polybromostyrene. It is also used in the preparation of organic intermediates. For example, β-bromophenyl ethane can be used to prepare preparative prenast intermediate 4-(4-phenylbutoxyl) benzoic acid.
As an anti-asthma drug, Prenast was first developed by the Japanese company Ono and marketed in Japan in 1995. In 1999, it was found to treat allergic rhinitis. Prenast is leukotriene C4/D4 receptor antagonistic antibody (lTRAs), which has very low toxicity. It can selectively inhibit the leukotriene polyskin activity of airway smooth muscle, and has almost no effect on arachidonic acid metabolic enzymes. At the same time, it has no antagonistic effect on acetylcholine and 5-hydroxytryptamine, and significantly inhibits lTC4, lTD4 and lTE4.
Colorless liquid. The melting point is -56℃, the boiling point is 220-221℃, 217-218℃ (97.62kPa), 92℃ (1.46kPa), the relative density is 1.3589, the refractive index is 1.5572. Can be miscible with diethyl ether, benzene, insoluble in water. Flash point is 89 ℃
